Why doesnt the United States build their own oil refinery ?

If they build there own they wouldnt need oil from other countries.Why doesnt the United States build their own oil refinery ?
We have our own oil refinerys. The problem with a lot of them is that they were built in the 1970s and need to be upgraded big time or new ones need to built. The problem there lies within the fact that no one wants an oil refinery in their back yard. And to be honest, we get most of our oil from Canada.Why doesnt the United States build their own oil refinery ?
There are oil refineries in the US but there is not enough crude oil here that is why we need to import it from elsewhere.
We do but the liberals won't let us run them.

ask the democrats favorite sons the environmental groups...it now takes more than 10 years for the paperwork process to be completed before a refinery can be built..and then the rules change while the refineries are being built...look into the one trying to be built in arizona..started in 1996
There are plenty od oil refineries that are not being used. There is one at Port Manatee in Bradenton FL. It was never put into operation. Sunray DX has one closed in Duncan , OK.


There is plenty of crude for more refineries. Gas prices would go down if supply was increased..What part of profit don't you understand?
So now refineries make crude oil out of thin air??


US exports refined products.
I think the U.S does have its own refineries, they are along the gulf coast. And I think we use other countries oil because the oil that is pump in Alaska is put in the US Oil Reserves, but im not really sure.
We have really big oil Refineries in the U.S.





We buy Crude oil from other countries and refine it here.
