What is the word equation for the process of cracking in an oil refinery?

Cracking is the process of breaking long chain hydrocarbons into short ones. It doesn't have a particular equation but the idea goes like this:


C30H62 = CH4 + C2H6 + C3H8 + ...


You know what I mean.
